A Prayer for our government during the shutdown

I'm distressed by the complete communication breakdown in our government, as well as the toddler-like behavior I see being exhibited throught our government agencies.  What can I do?

I can, and will, pray:

Lord, You have said "blessed are the peacemakers" and today I ask for a special empowering and blessing for those who operate as peacemakers.  

Thwart those who operate out of hostility.  

I pray especially for those in our government who are people of faith.  Help them to do what is right before You, even when it would seem to be politically (or even legally) wrong.

Lord, I pray for this country of ours, where we seem to have lost our way.  I know that You constantly work to draw us back to You.  May we see Your invitation and return to You... May we see in you the Hope & Wholeness that we most deeply desire.  May we see our own faults and sins and be more concerned about them than we are of the faults of those around us.

May we be people of Truth & Life, as well as grace & peace.  Let us hear the whisper of your Spirit.  Let us have eyes to see, ears to hear, hearts to understand .
