Tulip bulbs in late November

It's a warm (for here - in the 50s), sunny day. The ground hasn't frozen yet, so I decided that I'd plant some tulip bulbs. One problem: Finding them. (Home Depot informed me that they'd thrown out the whole display yesterday! The place I finally found them: Sam's Club). Obviously, I'm planting late.

But I know something that perhaps the stores don't know: As long as you can get them in the ground, tulips don't mind being planted late in the season. And so... this afternoon I took about an hour, and planted 60 bulbs.

It was good to be back digging in the dirt, especially this late in the season. It was good to be out in the sunshine. And it was good to think about these bright red tulips popping up all over the place in the spring (just when you've decided that winter will never end!). Planting for springtime possibilities makes me smile.

That deep love of planting for springtime possibilities keeps me going with The Loop, as well. It makes me smile as I lead the Alpha group and answer questions (last time, the question was: why shouldn't I believe the scientologists belief that it's aliens from out-of-space that keep us from achieving our potential?). And yes, it makes me smile as I put in yet another pan of lasagna. (See Oct 7 blog).

It seems that lasagna, Alpha, and tulip bulbs have alot in common.
