I'm one week down on this novel writing journey, but not yet 1/4 of the way there (yes, that means I'm behind on word count). Part of the reason I'm behind is that I had to stop and spend quite a bit of time figuring out what I'm writing about (this is something that many who are doing the novel-in-a-month thing had complete before November, but I came late to the game). Part of the reason I'm behind is that there were some unexpected interruptions. And part of the reason I'm behind is that I had underestimated how many 50,000 really is.
I've never been good at estimating anything having to do with numbers. Time? I usually think it will take less time than it does. Measuring food for portion size? Sometimes over, sometimes under, rarely right. Writing a book? I'm just beginning to pour the words into that 50,000 level cup, wondering if I'll have enough to fill it. But I continue to pour, and since it seems that Jesus invited me into this journey, I'm asking Him to multiply the words like He did with the loaves and fishes...
