I'm in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It's a beautiful city. This morning I spent a few free moments looking out my hotel window onto a city bursting with spring, while the mountains in the distance are still covered in snow. Ah... I love to travel.
I've always loved to travel. When I was young I informed my mother that I was going to travel to England on my honeymoon! (Oddly enough, I did).
But 25 years ago, when I sensed that God was calling me to leave the business world and enter the ministry, I surrendered this "travel bug" to God. I really believed that, with the change in finances that being in ministry would bring, traveling was something that I would have to give up. As much as I grieved this, I trusted God that He would make it so I wouldn't miss it.
I'm doing a quick tally in my head. Since entering ministry, I've traveled internationally at least 17 times... Bringing the total number of countries I've visited to over 22. The vast majority of these trips have been paid by someone else. Today I'm in Vancouver for a meeting of Arrow Leadership Ministries. I sit on their board (so they pay for the trip).
I know that God doesn't always work exactly like this, but my experience with God has been that every time I give up something for Him, He more than makes up for it. I serve a generous God!
