New Every Morning

One of the things I love about the Bible is that I keep learning from it, no matter how often I read it. It really is God's living Word, as it continues to speak to each moment of the day.

This week one of our Loop teams is reading Mark. As I was reading, I noticed something I'd never noticed before! Every time I've read and studied the passage where Jesus "clears the Temple"... upending the traders in the Temple... it's somehow seemed like Jesus was out of control. It seemed like He came into the Temple, saw what they'd done to God's House, and went... kind of crazy. Now I know that the Son of God was never "out of control"... but it SEEMED that way in that passage.

Until this week. I was reading the whole chapter, which starts with "Palm Sunday" when the crowds were cheering Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. The end of Jesus' "road" on that Palm Sunday was the Temple... the night BEFORE He clears it. Mark 11:11 says: "Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve." It dawned on me... Jesus was MAKING PLANS for His big Temple clearing!!!! He was looking to see where the traders were, where He'd go, what He'd do.

Which made me contemplate two things: What do I need to be making plans for? AND... is there any place where I need to SEEM a little "out of control" in order to shake things up for the Kingdom of God?

Hmmm....
