I'm now an "assistant superintendent" within our denomination. I have to confess, it wasn't the first thing on my "list of things I want to do in my life" (okay, it didn't even make the list). But somehow it seemed that God wanted me to do it, so I agreed.
One of the first orders of business as asst. supt., was figuring out a new name for the district I oversee (the old name was S. MN / N Iowa / SD district). We came up with the "3D District." Three... because we cover 3 states, and we've just set up "prayer trios." And what do the Ds stand for? Dream, Discern, Do. That simple name change has given me a clearer understanding of what God is calling me to do as the asst. supt.... help pastors dream about how God could use them and their church to transform their community. Then discern... what's the next step? Then do... move on out!
Dream, Discern, Do. What God-inspired, God-led dreams do you have? Are you in a prayer process to discern the next step in pursuing this dream? And what are you doing about it?
