Women ministers

Once in awhile I'll hear someone say that women ministers are a "result" of the women's movement of the '70s. Hmmm... wonder what those same people think of this verse that popped out at me from the pages of the Bible yesterday:

Exodus 38:8 They made the bronze basin and its bronze stand from the mirrors of the women who ministered at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

Yes... there were "women who ministered" at the Tent of Meeting (the forerunner to the Temple, for the Israelites when they were in the wilderness). Do we know how they ministered? No. But God made sure that this tantalizing verse made it's way into the pages of Scripture, even in a heavily patriarchal culture.

I'd say that the time of Moses (about 1500 BC) is just a bit before the women's movement of the '70s...
