The Room Matters

I just came from my new class of students at the local college. It's a good sized class - 26 - but it's in the wrong room... an "early childhood education" room with large round tables, kid's paintings on the walls, and toys all around (this is a Humanities class!). I wish we were in a different setting... but now those round tables have got me re-thinking how I'm teaching. The room really does matter!

And this makes me think about the use of space for The Loop. If the room really does matter... what should it be saying for us?
