Feast or Famine

Last Spring I needed something "extra" to do. I was a bit bored. So I sent out a few things I'd written to publishers. I waited. And waited. And waited. By late summer, I'd given up on writing and called around to Community Colleges to see if they needed someone to teach a class. In October, I was hired to teach a Humanities class. I loved it. But the school told me they didn't have anything for me to teach this winter. That's okay... I was setting a big goal of making 100 new contacts for the new church. That would keep me busy. And maybe... I'd try sending in one more article? Someone I know had encouraged me to write an article for a new magazine for women in ministry (Called). I sent them an email to see if they'd be interested in me writing an article on mentoring. I got a very enthusiastic reply. Okay... so now in addition to connecting with 100 new people, I had one article to write. But then... I got a letter from the publisher I'd sent the play to (Under the Tree). The play has gotten through the first round of editors and is now at the second. And then... I got an email from a magazine that I'd sent an article to last spring (Light & Life). They want to publish the article, but I need to edit it down (more work!).
And then on Friday... I got a call from the community college. Can I teach an English class starting on February 9th?
Eeeek! I'm not bored any more. Not even close.
