A few years ago, I made an advent wreath and began the practice of lighting the advent candle each morning, reading a passage of the Bible, and taking a few quiet moments. At first I felt a little silly, sitting there lighting a candle by myself. But it's now become an important part of my Christmas season. Somehow, intentionally taking the time to slow down and focus on Jesus each day in these days leading up to Christmas, makes the season... so much better.
Try it... light that candle, read a passage, say a prayer, and breathe deep. See if the season doesn't take on new meaning.
