Today I drove through St. Paul and was impressed... lots of new road pavement and new road-side plantings (and even a few American Flags planted on the grass!), and crews out picking up garbage for a neat-and-tidy look. There's also new billboards... forget the normal local grocery store ads. We now have billboards that challenge us to look at coal as an alternative energy, and others that challenge us with what should be done at Guantanamo.
I'd love to think that all of this was meant for me -- the "normal" Minnesotan. But I know better. On Monday, St. Paul hosts the Republican National Convention. All this work to make the city look good is not meant for me... it's meant for the delegates, media, and visitors who come for this event! THEY are "the audience."
Today I'm thinking alot about "audience." Not just as I drove through St. Paul, but as I create a website. I want this website to be understandable and appealing to people who don't go to church... they are the ultimate audience! (And, just like I get to benefit from the St. Paul clean-up, I hope that a few Christians will be attracted to us as well!).
I'll let you know when the website is launched... it should be soon!
